It is a law that states the winner of the presidential election must gunner 50% of the valid votes plus one vote. Although the one vote is a matter of contention many tend to argue that it should be one percent while other believe it would be one single vote.
This rule helps establish the presidential winner and if not met would mean a rerun by law.
The law itself plays a role in ensuring that the election process is fair and establishes an impact rule. Although the 50+1 rule plays a major role there is also a need to note that the majority rule is not the only rule. The law also states that the presidential candidate must receive 25% of votes in 24 counties. This ensures that the presidential candidate is a unifying factor in the country.
The Kenyan general election of 2022 was extremely contended. The election provided ample proof that the Kenyan people value peace and unity above all things. The win or loss of a preferred presidential candidate caused great tension but citizens allowed the process to move within the corridor of the law. This made the Kenyan population the greatest winners in the election process. We voted for peace and peace prevailed. As we move forward the president of Kenya will forever register the role they play to all Kenyans respective of their affiliation.
Remember my president represents my interests, his tile is to work for me and my fellow Kenyans. The opposition will therefore also work towards ensuring positive development in the county.
