Research has shown that failure or success in business is caused by three main things.

# lack of enough market.

When the market is not fit for your product, definitely it will not do well. This may be due to high competition or that your product is not solving users' needs.

#Good/bad working team.

It's known that if you have the best team you will have good results and vice-versa. But in business it may not be the case because you may have a capable team but still the product comes out badly engineered. For instance, we have seen big companies with the best teams coming up with products and still failing to work.

#Quality of the product.

Before releasing your product, make sure you have done good prototyping and testing, this is because you can not assume users or your target customers will just use a product that does not fit them. You need to do enough research in order to have a quality product that will out stand the market.

In conclusion, businesses fail because their products do not meet the need in a way that is better than other alternatives.
