Serenity prayer
The serenity prayer is a prayer that resonates with every human being irrespective of religious beliefs. The prayer states "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference (Reinhold Niebuhr)". This is amongst the hardest prayers to pray let alone follow. It challenges us every effort to change things. Many try and change their situations constantly with their belief that they are responsible for their destiny and life. But some situations are beyond our control.
For instance, 2020 was a year of challenge and concern. We all wish to the pandemic has been one thing no individual has been able to control or stop. We have been forced to new normals and new routines all in the name of life preservation. It has not been an easy journey. The serenity prayer is one thing that can help us view things differently.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; I cannot change the effect of the pandemic and definitely cannot relive that year. The courage to change the things I can; we can create an ability to accept the new normal, and the wisdom to know the difference; their things that we believe we can do but are always not possible having the ability to know what we can change and can change can help elevate a great deal of stress.
I pray that on this very day I may be able to take the serenity prayer as a guiding force.
Have a blessed time
